Sree Narayana Mangalam Training College was established on July 20, 1960 as an arduous task of imparting teacher education to the weaker sections of the society. The College is situated at Moothakunnam on the banks of the mighty Periyar river in the vicinity of the famous Sankara Narayana Temple. The College is by the side of NH 66 and is 4 kilometers from Kodungallur, the famous ancient port town of Muziris. The nearest railway stations are at Irinjalakuda (15 kms) and Aluva (24 kms). The calm and serene atmosphere is quite conducive for intellectual pursuit.

In August 2005 Elementary T.T.I. was established with an intake of 50 students. In the same academic year, in December the College started Post Graduate Course in education, M.Ed. with an intake of 25 students. Over the years, the College has set up a tradition of its own with regard to the decorum and decency of its student teachers.

The college is having a large library with a total carpet area spreading of 339 square meters and an attached reading room with a 100square meters. There are about 21,262 books on various subjects which include 1500 reference books and 1800 textbooks. The Institution library subscribes to around 20 journals including vernacular, English, and International Journals.

Sports

The college has sports facilities available in the college. Playground for volleyball, shuttle and badminton, and Items of indoor games like chess, caroms, table tennis, billiards, and snooker table are made available. The college sports room is well equipped.

Girls Hostel

The college provides hostels for girls with special emphasis on cleanliness, comfort, and convenience. The hostels can accommodate around 100 girls. All the rooms are furnished.

I am a second-year student of M.Sc. botany with specialisation in ethnobotany and ethnopharmacology. It is a new gen course introduced last year. This course is a professional degree so we can get job opportunities in different drug-making companies. Many research institutes like BSI and CSIR provide job opportunities. Our college provides internships for students.

Almost 90% of the students were enrolled in this course, and there is no professional course available in this college, so campus placement is hard. And there are a lot of other opportunities you can gain from this course. And as with every college, this one is also nice to study at.
